Weekly Report 10/22-10/28

Dimensional Warriors:

Another week has passed and I've slowed down a bit on this front. Mostly due to a couple of detail hitches in the plot, like what kind of problems should I put in the way? How much should I focus on the Solarus? How many humans can I afford to put in? I've got tons of cool ideas, but I need to balance cool fighting with things like strife, famine, long standing wounds. But on the other hand, where The Gathering is all about survival in bad conditions, Battle Beneath the Tower is more of a warzone sort of condition. So the primary conflict is going to be several clashes between the remaining humans and the Solarus. I keep wondering if I have the remaining people banding together too easily, I mean it's easy enough to explain away since Metudo has already proven he can manipulate people's minds; but then am I removing a potentially lucrative conflict?

Anyway, I have written up several fights, and the one that I'm stumbling over is a great undersea fight. I haven't decided if I want to put a city with survivors down there, or maybe even merfolk, or if I just want Solarus. Been playing around with it, and nothing seems to be clicking. Maybe it'd be better to scrap it and move on. Or maybe I just need to find a bigger reason for the characters to go there.

Anyway, I've got an excerpt from Battle Beneath the Tower for you guys today; namely the inciting action. Yes one of the Solarus has been named, it occurs in an as-of-yet unreleased portion of the last chapter; it's part of the climax I so casually omitted. Let me know what you think.

Dimensional Warriors Fan Fiction:
As some may have noticed I finally got around to cutting the first set of chapters and edited the first chapter. Unfortunately between school, a close electoral race, and my own dangerous lack of sleep I'm beginning to slow down. So the chapter was very short this time. Hopefully it won't be next time.

S.T.U.F.F. Reviews:
If the writing stuff that I can do on the train has slowed to a crawl you can imagine the progress I've made on the footage. In a word non-existent. It'll get done, but not until after I get my soul back. Or at least a full eight hours of sleep.

From the Desk of #3:
The Political Blog has taken off finally, and I now know how I can get some consistent material for it. By commenting on things that I find in the news. And this isn't small time commentary  I have been known to outright bash and make fun of some of the really stupid shit that flows through the world. I'll continue doing stand-alones, but the big problem I'm having is my current project revolves around discovering what it means to be Republican. Or at least why there are still people voting Republican  It isn't an easy question to answer and I don't want to write these people off as stupid. In fact when I say Republicans are stupid (and I will say it often) I'm usually talking about just the ones in politics. (I'll continue to make sure that distinction is known, to prevent future problems.) Though even that isn't true, and is in fact more just in jest. I fully acknowledge the extreme mental capabilities that many Republicans do have, I just really do not like the way they choose to uses these capabilities. Anytime you take gifts your God gave to you and use them to hurt others; well I call that being a horrible and despicable human being, but when I want to keep the mood light I call that being stupid.

One final note, I haven't really got clearance to talk about Professor Astonishing progress as of yet, but I can assure you the next page is done and ready to go for this weekend.

Dimensional Warriors Fan Fiction: The Return Chapter 21

Okay this is actually much bigger than it first appears. The chapter itself is tiny, but I edited the entire first part, finally cutting out the first sixteen or so chapters and then posting a new edited Chapter 1. I may go through and edit some of the other chapters as well, but that is reliant on time.

Anyway, this week we should have another recap on Monday; I haven't gotten a ton of work done there yet, but I may have another opening done by tomorrow. We also have Dimensional Warriors Comic coming up on Wednesday, Thursday will also see a new song from Javier.

I've spent most of the week working on a couple of new openings pages. I'd like to know which one looks better, and whether they still need work or not.

The first new opening would just replace the first couple of paragraphs:

Weekly Report: 10/8-10/14

Dimensional Warriors:
So after some consideration I've decided to post the first 15-16,000 words. So basically from the beginning to right before the end of the first part. I may do something similar with other parts if I feel that its necessary.

Now that having been said, anyone that has actually read the last draft, up until Raven appears, everything is the same. I've gone over those first few pages several times and other than some minor modifications haven't seen anything I need to change.

I spent a bit of time modifying the beginning to Battle Beneath the Tower. I think the biggest change is rather than have the whole team fly there, they're gonna be walking. Which means a ton of obstacles in their way. Plus Haven won't be safe for very long.

S.T.U.F.F. Reviews:
I finally have Premire working on my computer and completed the first stage of editing (taking all the footage Ted and I shot and cutting away everything I don't want.) Which leaves the hard part, matching all of that to movie footage.

Other Projects:
I've been working on a few things behind the scenes, and have got someone checking over the first of what I hope to be a new segment.

Sorry this took so long, school has been beating me up and taking my free time. I think it lost interest in my lunch money after it realized the school had shitty lunches.

Anyway next week is a big one, I'm planning on posting the entire revised first part, so pretty much the entire new The Gathering. That will go up on Monday (and will be roughly 20,000 words.) More on the logic behind that when Monday comes around. We also have the usual Dimensional Warriors Comic page on Wednesday, and Javier's I Still Dream in Black and White will go up Thursday. Friday will end the week with another Fan Fic chapter. I'll start mentioning Astonishing on the Friday's before it comes out, since next Sat. will be the next Astonishing page.

I hope everyone's enjoying the work Ted and I have been putting forward. I'm gonna try to have the Fan Fic chapter up for Friday, but with the new Adobe Suite on my computer I really want to get started editing.

Weekly Report 10/1 - 10/7

Dimensional Warriors: Novelization.
For my first time doing this I'd like to open up with a few things.

Mission Statement:
What I want to achieve with this piece is an intellectual novel for the common man, something that can cross all media and excel in all of them.

The Hook:
A transgendered woman has to find her friends while fighting against impossible odds.

Excerpt:
This will basically be a favorite scene out of the new content to give you guys a taste of what I'm working on.

The Gathering: Neko, Vyrse, Raven, Henry and Eddy find an army bunker where Ben is hiding with lucy

Questions:
Not entirely happy with Haiden as Pahhur's family name. Suggestions?
Not 100% behind Zephos' weapon choice. Suggestions?
Situations or ordeals the characters should deal with?
Plotholes?

Notes:
-Added a LOT of scenes. Mostly to The Gathering. This includes a lot of tension building scenes, and introductions for new characters and antagonists.
-New characters:
--Henry; a self-important businessman and coward.
--Eddy; an Irish family man, companion, and spy.
--Ben; Eddy's son, a hyperactive punk that likes guns.
--Lucy; Girl who was sensitive to the Time distortion caused by the Dimension Bomb that made the whole mess. As of right now I have not decided whether to have her wake up or not.
--Beth; Punctual and realistic doctor.
--Names not set in stone, not entirely attached to any of them.
-Added several ticking clock elements to both The Gathering and Battle Beneath the Tower.
-Changed the conflict between Neko and Metudo vastly.
-Added all of Pahhur's scenes.
-Changed Zephos' weapon thinking about using chain blades ala Vivi's Peacock Slashers.
-Added conflict to practically every scene in The Gathering.

Something New; the Week's Report.

For those of you who pay attention to the little blurbs I attach to all my blog posts it'll come as no surprise that I'm having some difficulties with my story Dimensional Warriors. The difficulty comes primarily from the fact that I've been editing the earlier chapters, and as any writer worth his ink stains and crippling arthritis will tell you; when you edit the early stuff the later stuff tends to change.

So I've got a really weird dichotomy going on with the "current" stuff becoming more invalid by the second. For instance, and part of what is making this particular point hard, I want Asuka on the ship with Metudo. I like their character dynamic and with this part of the story supposedly taking a long amount of time I need more characters to work with.

On the even further scale I've added several characters that I plan to have major payoffs not too far in the future of The Return. If I just arbitrarily add those anyone that has been following what I've been doing will be suddenly very very lost.

So what do I do?

Well I thought about it, and one of the things that keeps me writing is that I have to keep this blog updated. It doesn't account for all of my drive, but it certainly helps me get things done in a timely manner. So I have to be doing something week to week; but what?

This is why I'm going to start doing a sort of "report" where I'll post about my activities at first just on Dimensional Warriors, but if I get a good response I'll add other series and maybe even manage to convince Ted and Javi to get involved.

Now this is how I'm thinking of running this. I am going to talk a little bit about things like themes, ideas, and situations. Anything that isn't a major spoiler. So you can expect to hear blurbs about new characters, situations, things that I've changed. Furthermore there are a number of details that I either haven't decided yet or don't know at all. Questions ranging from should I go with Herm or Haidan, to what should Zephos' birthday be? And I would be grateful to anyone willing to pitch in their two cents.

So to sum up, I'm inviting the strange people living out there in the internet to join me in the editorial process. I think it could be a lot of fun, and might create an interesting new experience. The next post that will be on top of this one and make this one invisible to the public will be the first report which will basically sum up everything I've done for the past month or so. So it's gonna be huge.

Another chapter, and it's not even based on a pre-existing story! That's about all the news there, unfortunately I've been losing a lot of steam with moving forward, partially because I've been working on editing the first book and I've made changes that are pretty big game changers to the story overall. It's making a huge discrepancy between what's being updated and my perception of the story.

That aside, we finally bought Adobe Premiere  and immediately ran into a different problem. I apparently downloaded the 32-bit version of Windows 7 and now need to get the 64-bit. So that will probably take up a lot of today while I uninstall Windows and reinstall everything else.

Javier Aladren: Play On

This one is a somewhat darker melody enhanced by a minimal amount of instrumental music. It almost gains a creepy quality to it and is definitely worth a listen.
