Dimensional Warriors: Neko's Story Chapter 8

“Who goes there!” A voice boomed from the golden city; shaking me from my stupor. A heavy built man was sitting at the top of one of the buildings. I could just barely make out an elaborate throne behind him; also golden. It was hard to make out much else against the setting sun.

“Hey, we're going around getting people to safety!” Pahhur yelled back.

“Bah, I'm perfectly safe here. If you are referring to the armored creatures, their bullets don't harm me.” The voice sounded familiar. I began moving to see better. Thick jaw, silver eyes, short silver hair; but the structure of the face was familiar.

“Steel? Matthew Steel?”

“It's Thorium now. And who...” He raised a hand over his eyes, and looked at me.

“Neko?” Without hesitation he jumped down from his perch. “Oh my god, it really is you. You're still alive!” He pulled me into a strong hug. “What're you doing with these guys?”

“Huh? This is Pahhur, Raven, Vyrse, and Syndil. Like Pah said, we're going around getting people to safety. We could use help doing it.” He laughed a bit.

“Ah Neko, always trying to save the world. Well I'll be a bit sad to loose all this, but I guess I can just make more later.” He turned and placed a hand on one of the buildings, it broke down into pieces, which he crafted a bag from and began sliding gold bricks into.

“You do need to eat right?” Pahhur said.

“You mean you guys don't have food?”

“We don't have much left.” I said; he sighed and began pulling the bricks back out.

“I'll go empty out my storage.” He muttered before storming off.

“Wow. Another guy like Pahhur. We might actually make it.” Raven said.

“I get the feeling we should double check any bags he brings back.” Vyrse pointed out.

“He'll get the food, he just acts like his deck isn't completely stacked.” I pointed out. I felt my heart calming, knowing that one of my closest friends was still alive. Steel was about as reliable as they come; even if he is a bit selfish at times.

“I think this will be a good choice next.” I heard Syndil say from behind me. She had the orb out, and the others were huddled over it.

“Looks like they're under attack, but they are on a mountain, and seem to be able to hold their own.” Vyrse was analyzing.

“We ready to go?” Thorium had returned with a few bags and a fair sized ball and chain tied around his wrist.

Comments:

Yes, the remaining characters are all elemental people. Yes they are all based on friends and family, with a few exceptions. Yes I know it's corny, but I'm not too good at creating characters; so I wanted bases to work off of. The reason they all know each other from before is to cut down on bogging this thing down in back story and circular conversations.

Yes I think I'm clever.

Fan Fiction Chapter Series. Shadow Chapter 5

I took in the image of the planet for a moment; oblivious to the young man that had come with me. I swiftly began running my eyes over the control panel. Thankfully the Ark I had lived on for so long had been so complex to operate. As it stood there were still a few devices that looked alien to me. But my eyes landed on the scan controls.

With a little work, the console came to life and began spewing out the numbers I had asked for. However the first number out, the one I was most interested in, was impossible. The diameter of the planet was easily over 100,000 km. This planet was several times larger than even the largest planet. I began to work furiously on the console. The hologram above shimmered and zoomed out. According to the readings, there were no suns orbiting the planet. How was that possible? In fact, how do we have a fairly regular twenty-four hour day?

I plugged away, inputting commands, and getting gibberish. Finally the hologram shifted, and the planet separated into layers. Looking at it, the core was about what I'd expect, but surrounding it was a series of deep tunnels dug underneath what seemed to be an entire layer composed of buildings. Then a thin layer of various minerals, followed by the planet's surface. Finally, floating roughly in the upper atmosphere, was some form of casing, which ran lights around the planet to simulate the sun.

My mind was reeling. The level of work, of craftsmanship. The knowledge and technology required, was far beyond anything I had seen. The planet itself seemed to be supported by small dimensional pockets which could be shifted around. As soon as that thought crossed my mind I glanced over the console again. There had been one panel I hadn't understood; I looked it over now.

With a little fiddling the image changed to a zoomed in view. There was a cursor as well. I tested the controls and managed to select a piece of desert. Continuing to test the panel I tried to move it to replace an area adjacent to the forests. The machine displayed a loading bar, and after about five minutes the two areas swapped places.

After an hour or so, I figured out most of the controls, but this console had some locks applied to it. Only a few terrain types could be moved at all. I changed the view to the large map. There were seven buildings that were not in disrepair. I assumed each of them was a base like this one. Six made a form of ring around the planet, while the seventh, a tall tower with almost a city structure around it, rested at what would be the south pole. I felt it was a safe bet to assume whoever was doing all this would be there.

Gripping the Chaos Emerald in my pouch, I knew I couldn't warp all the way there, but I could at least put some distance between myself and this place.

Comments:

Yeah I'm gonna do comments here from now on. This way I don't have to remember to do them later, and I can actually get my immediate thoughts down.

Lotta techno-babble in this chapter. And Shadow will probably always be like that. Especially since he is one of the few characters I have that can actually get places, and do it somewhat stealthily. Meaning I'm going to use him a lot to uncover the miscellaneous hows and whys that some people might have. For instance, why do I write most of the story in the forest? The answer is definitely not that I just like forests for combat, and they lead to interesting tools that make writing fights more interesting. It's just that the Solarus that have been sorting the planet have put several planet's worth of trees all in one spot. So it's just got a lot of forest condensed into one location, the same location most of my characters are traveling through.

See, I've got logic. To make my life easier.

Fan Fiction Chapter Series. Akane Chapter 2

This chapter contains material that I do not own, they are the property of one of the following: Akira Toriyama, Yoshihiro Togashi, Rumiko Takahashi, Tite Kubo, Masashi Kishimoto, Eiichiro Oda, and Yuji Naka. Please support these excellent artists.

“Okay, so what we know is, something happened, knocked everybody out; only some people are waking up, while others are not.”

“Right, and don't forget, we're also out of food.” Ryoga added.

“Right. Sonic was by here though, and before him some other guy named Goku.” Sally continued.

“Yes.”

“Alright, let's check on Nicole, see if she's found anything out about the people.” I nodded my head and followed Sally into the room where we had laid out the unconscious people.

“I believe I do have an answer for you Princess Sally.” The little computer's voice echoed in the otherwise quiet. “The stasis is induced though some form of energy. Strong willpower will break the stasis. Otherwise my calculations state they will remain in stasis for three more days at the most.”

“Three days. I guess strength of will sounds about right. Sonic is definitely very strong there.” Sally said.

“That means anyone moving around right now is most likely very strong.” I added.

“Oy! More folks incoming!” I heard Odin call and rushed up.

Just breaking the forest's line was a young man, tall with bright orange hair. He was wearing a plain white tee and a pair of blue jeans; on his back were a couple of unconscious people. As soon as he hit the foot of the mountain, he didn't even slow down and just dashed right up; coming to a sudden stop when he reached the platform.

“You guys... Are a safe house right?” He was breathing heavily.

“Yeah, we're keeping people safe in here.” Odin said. “Lemme get those two for ya.”

“Thanks.” He said, laying down. “This is embarrassing.”

“I think it's pretty impressive, you ran that fast with two people on your back.” I said, trying to comfort him.

“I shouldn't be this tired. If I could use my powers, that would have been nothing.” I held my hand out.

“Akane.” I decided to cut fomalities, since our lives depended on each other. He looked up at me hesitantly, then took my offered hand.

“Ichigo.” He took the offered hand and I helped him to his feet.

“I'm sure you'll figure out how to get your powers back soon enough.” I carried him inside and sat him at the table before passing him our last cup of noodles.

“It's not that simple. Usually to use my powers I have to separate my soul from my body. I can't seem to do that now.”

“Huh. That sounds strange at best.”

“You don't seem too surprised.” As he spoke Sally entered.

“This is the new guy?” She said, looking him over. He was just staring at her.

“There's a reason I'm not surprised.” I said, sighing.

Dimensional Warriors: Metudo's Story Chapter 8

“What are you doing?”

“They want to come with me!” Lark exclaimed defensively, as she clutched a pile of branches to her chest. I rolled my eyes.

“And yer just going to carry them for how long?”

“Oh until I get enough.” The jungle had thinned out, and trees were steadily becoming sparse. Ahead a mountainous region filled the horizon. The foothills swelled around us, as we began pressing upwards.

“Anatos? Metudo?” I heard a voice come from behind us. Surprised I hadn't sensed his presence, I turned. Despite the torn clothing, dirt covering a pale face, and the spiked blond hair, I recognized him immediately.

“Leukos?” He grinned up at me, one of our two cousins. I thought we were the only ones left. In a second he was standing next to me.

“I can't believe I found you guys. I mean, really. With all the shit that's going down.” I felt my hair standing on end, just with him next to me and took a step back. “Oh.” He thought for a moment. “Yeah that, sorry I'm not used to the new me.”

“What happened?”

“Some guy. Now I can't seem to stay still anymore. I mean, I have so much energy.” He was literally vibrating. “And the static cling gets annoying, I still can't get my shirt to stay on correctly.” I touched his mind for a second.

“Electricity?” I asked, half to myself, half to him.

“Sounds about right. But it's so cool. Watch this.” With that he was gone. I turned my head looking for him, and finally caught sight of a person high up the mountain; they were waving. Then in another instant he was next to me again. “Pretty cool, yeah?”

“I guess.”

“Also cool to see Anatos up and moving again. It's been forever since I've seen him so healthy.”

“True. Then again he got some sort of water power.”

“Well. I've been staying with this one guy. He's pretty neat. He's just up the mountain a bit.” Leukos moved ahead and waved us over.

Night was falling by the time we reached a cave. Strangely there were lights on as we went in.

“Leukos?” A short, thick built man wandered out. “You brought friends?” He said incredulously. “I didn't think anyone was still alive. I mean, the math said there was only a five percent chance anyone survived this mess.”

“Guys, this is Tech. He let me hole up here until this whole mess was over with.”

“Yes, the Solarus are making quite a mess of things.”

“Wait, you know the Solarus?” I asked.

“Yep, my predecessor left files on just about everything they knew about Avarus, his minions, and his toys. I haven't gone too deep into them. I've been far more curious about Leukos here. Did you know his body structure could be considered fluid?”

“Wait... What?” Anatos asked.

“God you sound old. Speak English.” Jato said.

“Impossible.” Tech declared proudly; opening a panel on his arm. “Huh. That is interesting, none of you are giving off any normal readings.”

“Yeah that's probably because none of us are normal.”

“Ooh, do tell.” As he spoke he started hooking equipment up to Anatos.

“Well, we each had a run in with some older folks. I got mental powers, Anatos got water, Jato got some sort of balance or something, and Lark got apparently plants.”

“Wait, Jato? Lark?” Leukos said, leaning over a counter. “You guys don't look like I remember you.”

“Yeah, we were gonna try and explain it to you, but well.” Jato shrugged towards Tech.

“Ah. Well if you guys are still kicking I'm sure Antigon is too.”

“You're probably right. Neko's out there as well, nothing short of a nuke would take her out.” I sighed, my mind aching from the chatter. I figured we'd stay the night here and move on come morning. If I could handle the noise.

Ted Selden Art

Cookies: Charcoal on paper

Ted Selden's Comments:
Not much to say about this one. I was looking over some old school projects and I found this one sitting around. I forget exactly what the assignment was: however, we are looking at three cookies positioned like a triangle. I remember that my aim for this project was to attempt to define the space inside the frame. I wanted the audience to see this less as a still life of a cookie and more as a mountain crevice. The dark shadows to the side remind me of a cliff face and the kind of rocky corners one would see while rock wall climbing. Not much to it, but I like the charm.

David's Comments:

I'm getting hungry.

Dimensional Warriors: Neko's Story Chapter 7

“Sounds like things have been rough.” I said, having pulled Pahhur aside. We had decided to wake Raven in a few hours by a watch that Pahhur had found.

“It's probably like this all over the place.” Pahhur said. “Just means it's all the more important that we do something.”

“I guess so. Just starting to feel like dead weight. I mean, you can't be hit by their bullets, Raven can reflect them, and Vyrse is a pro. I don't even have a weapon to defend myself.”

“I wouldn't say that. Yer incredibly clever; I mean you did manage to find a way out of that mess earlier.”

“Still, I would prefer not having to rely on you guys.” Pahhur thought for a little while.

“I'll see what I can do. Maybe we can find some sort of weapon or something.” She was munching on a bit of pipe that she had apparently picked up in town. I turned back to the orb; how many days had it been since this started? A week? More? I couldn't remember. My body suddenly felt heavy, weary from over use.

“I'll go wake Raven; its about time to change shifts.” Pahhur said.

I woke with a start. The sun was already shining over the horizon.

“Ah, you're awake!” I heard Vyrse say.

“Neko!” Pahhur called out. “I think I know where we're headed next!” Interested I grabbed some salted jerky and leaned over Raven's shoulder. Pahhur pointed to a blue dot nestled in a city.

“This one is being treated much like I am. They've formed a circle and aren't coming closer.”

“So, someone like you?” I pondered. We were packed up and on the move pretty soon after. Raven had apparently relented to Vyrse and agreed to start Syndil's training again; however he had agreed to let Pahhur 'sit in' as well.

“So, you and her have a thing?” Vyrse said, suddenly popping up behind me. I jumped.

“No! Of course not, I'm not, I don't swing that way.”

“Family then?”

“You could say that.” Vyrse eased himself next to me and matched my pace.

“You know, she walks like a boy.” I felt my heart skip a beat. “But that's what you get with the tomboy types.”

“What about you? You and Raven seem fairly close.”

“Oh yeah, we go way back. He was the first man who could stand up against me and my aim. But that was a long time ago. He's taking his wife's death real hard though, never seen him like this before.”

“Syndil is probably not holding up too well either.”

“I'd say she's doing better than he is. I remember when I used to train her, she had such kind eyes. She never seemed to take training seriously; I often wondered at Raven's decision to teach her.”

“Then why'd you make him train her again?”

“Well, that night I saw something I never thought I'd see. Her eyes, they were strong, determined. She was ready to fight.”

“You can tell that much from just her eyes?” Vyrse grinned at me.

“When you have been doing this kind of work for as long as I have, just a hand motion can tell you a man's life story. A look into their eyes will reveal their soul.” He stopped, a pained look crossing his face. “But, that's just the ramblings of a fool.” He said with a laugh, diffusing the tension in his muscles.

“Hey, they're moving...” I heard Pahhur say ahead.

“What?”

“Seriously, look, the ring of those Armor things around the city, they're moving aside to let us through.”

“Considering they lost about a hundred the last time we fought, maybe they're trying to reduce unnecessary losses.” Raven said. As he spoke the city came into view, it wasn't like anything we were expecting. The buildings seemed unscathed, and more, they shone golden in the setting sun.

Fan Fiction Chapter Series. Shadow Chapter 4

“Okay.” I told myself, watching a new piece of desert begin to disappear. “This is going to be stupid, but I'm not figuring anything out just standing here watching.” Working up the nerve, I moved onto the sand and waited for the lines to reach me. There was a flash of light, and I was standing unsurprisingly in a desert.

It proved a couple of theories. Somehow, something was moving entire pieces of the planet, like it was some sort of jigsaw puzzle. Anything caught in the movement, moved too. As I looked around I noticed the sand was not a uniform color. There were multiple shades, from the typical golden brown, to a reddish hue. There was even an eery white sand, of which I had never seen on Earth. This brought a new conclusion to mind, there was more than one planet being used. Which would explain the size. Normally I could circumvent the planet in a few hours going at top speed. It had been almost a day, and I felt I hadn't seen a fraction of the whole.

I was about to move on, when I felt something familiar. A few short moments away, I found a red gem shining out of the sand. One of the Chaos Emeralds. I picked up the stone, feeling it's power flow into me. With just one Chaos Emerald I could unlock a large part of my own powers. Most importantly the Chaos Control, something that would allow me to warp across large distances. I thought for a moment, then activated the Emerald's power.

Mountain, Ocean, Plains, Desert, Forest. My body flickered through each of these terrains as I semi-warped myself around the planet. One fact remained constant. Each terrain type seemed to be gathered, almost sorted, into a particular place. The only inconsistency occurred in civilization. Entire ruined structures lay almost at random across the globe. Then by chance I flickered on top of a structure. I stopped.

The machinery below me was active. This was alive, but with what? I edged my way to one side, spying those Armored creatures gathered below me. Almost as soon as I did, they began scrambling. Some rushing towards the forest's edge, others trying to take aim at me. I couldn't help but grin.

Before they had even steadied their guns, I was on the ground behind them. I had felt my spines run right through four layers, they were done.

“Chidori!” I heard someone call out from the forests. Several armored creatures flew out in pieces as a young man followed slowly behind them. He wore a deep blue overcoat with a high collar, his short black hair seemed to have the habit of sticking straight up, but most striking was his eyes. Blood red, with three black dots inside. He caught my eye, and considered me for a moment.

“I assume you are not with these things?” I shook my head. “Good, then stay out of my way.” He shifted rapidly to where he was behind me. I almost didn't see the movement. After a moment I decided to follow him.

Just inside the building was a walkway leading down, on the lower floor I could make out creatures, different than the armored ones. These things were obviously made of flesh, but most of them had very inhuman shapes. Many of them seemed grotesque or bloated. The man next to me didn't hesitate. He drew out a blade and dashed down. The creatures moved to attack, but he cut into the mass. I decided to dash down as well, cutting my own path through the creatures.

Within a matter of seconds the monstrosities were either dead or fleeing. I quickly took in the monitors lining the room, and spotted a large switch on a panel in the center. The console lit up, and quickly generated a large holographic image displaying an orb. The planet.

Fan Fiction Chapter Series. Akane Chapter 1

Yes, I'm switching over to Akane. Just gonna pick up where Ryoga left off.

I was glad to see Ryoga again. He was a good person, and having seen those things... I was worried, about my friends, about my family, about Ranma.

“We have someone coming in!” I heard Odin yell. “That or something...” I came up to see what they were talking about. There was a large dust cloud in the distance heading towards us. As it left the forest, all I saw was a blue blur; before it hit the foot of the mountain and sped straight up.

Blue fur, spines along the back, gloves and red sneakers. I hadn't seen anything like it before.

“Hey, you guys some sort of safe haven?” It spoke, dropping what seemed to be four or five unconscious people on the ground.

“Who... What?”

“Name's Sonic, Sonic the Hedgehog.” It said quickly. “I won't be hanging long, just dropping some folks off, then I'm heading out again. It's a mess out there and I'm gonna head out and help. I'll be back if I find more folks.” He said, and within a moment sped off again.

“Okay, that was strange.” I said. Apparently, living with Ranma hadn't prepared me for anthropomorphic rodents that run at the speed of sound. I heard a noise coming from the pile of people that Sonic had just left. I realized they weren't all people. One of them was another anthropomorphic thing. It stirred, and I realized it was a she. She had brown fur, and hair, a small tail, a blue jacket and matching boots. Her eyes fluttered open, and she shot up.

“Sonic? Where am I?” She was a little dazed.

“Yer safe ma'am.” Odin said, picking up one of the unconscious bodies. Ryoga following suit. Upon seeing them she seemed to wake up.

“What happened? Who did this?” Odin gently placed a hand on her shoulder.

“They're alright, we don't know who did this, or how; but we're gonna find out. 'Till then we better bring them inside.” She didn't seem satisfied, and dug through her pockets for a bit; before pulling out what looked like some sort of calculator.

“Nicole.”

“Yes, Princess Sally.” The machine responded.

“Good to see you're okay.”

“It's just good I put a backup of myself in here.”

“You mean the city is...”

“It is gone, or more precisely, broken up into pieces. Most of it is in ruins.”

“How?”

“I cannot tell. However, there are more pressing matters at hand. Scans show these people are trapped in some form of stasis.”

“Can you break it?”

“No.” Sally sighed and looked around at us.

“So, Station Square citizens?”

“Where?” I retorted. She seemed a little shocked at this.

“I didn't think any humans were left outside of Station Square.”

“Yeah, and where I come from animals don't talk, don't use advanced machinery, and usually don't stand on two legs.” She seemed uncomfortable now.

“Maybe we should head inside and you can tell me what you guys know.”

Dimensional Warriors: Metudo's Story Chapter 7

“So. What's yer story?”

“Nothing too big, college, boyfriend, normal life. Then I wake up on a park bench with gun shots flying around me and this old guy grabs me. Next thing I know I'm scaly and breathing fire.”

“Odd. Well, I was about halfway through college, he was recovering from chemo.” Jato looked startled.

“Yeah, I seem much better now.” Anatos said, almost skipping ahead.

“I assume it's part of the same thing that turned you into a vision of terror.” I said.

“Well, where are we heading then?” Jato asked suddenly.

“North. I had a vision of a mountain. People are gathering there, and if we have any chance of surviving that is it.”

“He's got weird psychic stuff now.” Anatos said, in almost a whisper. “I think it's messing with his head.”

“Watch it Sweat-drop.” I snapped at him. It was good to see him happy again, but after over a day, it was starting to get on my nerves. “Which reminds me, do you have any idea why you suddenly passed out about a day ago?”

“Not really no. My mouth just got really dry all the sudden and it felt like I lost all the strength in my body.”

“Sounds like a hydration problem. The environment around here is unusually dry. Though judging from the plant-life it's only been that way for a couple days.” Jato said suddenly.

“That's a good point, might be you need to keep your body moist to keep moving like you were.” As we talked the plains turned to wood, and quickly became a thick jungle. “God this planet sucks now. I swear it's ninety percent tree.”

“And not a living creature in sight.” Anatos said.

“Tree's are living.” Jato pointed out.

“Moving creature.” Anatos retaliated.

“That one's moving.” I followed Jato's pointed hand. Indeed a few vines were actively crawling up a tree.

“I suddenly feel uncomfortable”

“Yeah, last I checked, we didn't have forests of death.” Anatos said, eying the trees. I felt another mind nearby suddenly.

“We're being followed.” Jato said, a little bit before I decided to. I felt no malice, in fact I barely felt anything more than mild curiosity. I scanned the dense trees, in the corners of my eyes I could perceive the branches shifting suddenly, almost like they were covering someone. I slowly edged my way closer to the last spot there had been movement; and jabbed the end of my cane into the brush. Almost as soon as I had my world spun around and I was dangling in the air by my leg.

“OW! Hey! That was my boob.” A girl crawled out of the brush massaging herself. Her clothing seemed to have once been green, now it was brown and tattered. Not that it was much different from the rest of us. Her hair, while fairly brown from being unkempt, had a green hue to it. She looked over us, and suddenly her face cleared. “Jato! Is that you?” After a moment he nodded.

“Lark! You survived! And can control plants... Creepy.”

“No, it's totally cool. I always knew the trees liked me, but now they can tell me themselves.”

“You know her?” I asked, blood starting to make my nose ooze.

“Yeah, she was part of my friend group in college. Though she was just working at the time.”

“Can you ask her to let us down?”

“Oh, sorry.” Lights danced in front of my eyes for a minute as I landed head first.

“Okay. Next time, a little gentler.”

“Sorry, still not quite used to this.”

“I wonder if the others are alright.” Jato said.

“You know, I was going around looking for them, when this one girl stopped me and did some sort of ritual. Kinda miss my blonde hair though.” She stared at Anatos and I. “These two chill?”

“Yeah, they helped me recover from an enraged dragon.”

“Sounds like you had a good time without me!” She pouted.

“Hey, Lark. How good's yer control over the plants?” I asked, motioning to the wall of trees in our way.

Dimensional Warriors: Neko's Story Chapter 6

“So, does he do this often?” I asked Syndil, trying to break the uncomfortable silence that had embraced us.

“Huh? Oh run off. Yeah. He's been very protective of me since this ordeal started.”

“You must've been lucky to wake up so close to each other.” I said. “I know when I woke up I was nowhere near anything I recognized.” She simply sat there, watching me. I sighed. “Look, everything is going to turn out alright. Okay? Pahhur is stronger than she looks, and she's actually got a decent plan.” As I said this, I remember the orb in my pocket and pulled it out. “See, a map of the planet. It even has markings on it indicating where people are and those Armors are.” She seemed deeply interested, and I let her hold it for a while.

“This planet... It's not the same one we used to live on...” She said, turning the map slowly.

“Yeah, it looks nothing like Earth.” I had already looked extensively over the map. The terrain was for the most part gathered together and placed almost by category. Forests, Mountains, one enormous ocean. The terrain even seemed to change. I had noticed a while ago that where there had been desert one hour, a forest was taking over that area. Meanwhile a desert area further away was growing. My eyes casually fell back on the orb. “Oh. It looks like they're almost done.” I said, noticing the hole in the ranks up ahead. Syndil turned the orb to look at it.

“The numbers are going down, so fast.” I looked where she was pointing, and the red digits were spinning downward at a quick pace.

“How many were there...” I was worried, if there were that many, Raven might be hurt. “Let's go.” I said, grabbing my pack. Syndil nodded and followed close behind.

The fighting hadn't ended by the time we arrived, more of the Armors were trying to push in, even though Pahhur and Raven were mostly unscathed.

“What are you doing here Syndil!” Raven yelled upon seeing her.

“Neko! Get back!” Pahhur yelled out. However the Armors had already changed course and were heading for us. They still had a distance until they were in range, I quickly spotted an alcove and grabbed Syndil; ducking for cover in the crumbling remains of a building.

“We have to keep moving.” I said to Syndil. She nodded and we began to head for the other side, hoping to lose our pursuers. We scrambled down a dusty hall, and came rapidly to a door. A dead Exit sign laid on the ground nearby. I slammed into the door, it held for a little bit before swinging open; bringing us face to face with a single Armor. Time felt like it stopped. I heard a gunshot.

Then the Armor fell; a bullet hole through it's side. I looked to the wood's edge and saw a man standing carefully on a branch.

“Vyrse!” Syndil cried out suddenly; and broke out towards him. I didn't hesitate and followed quickly.

By the time we reached the tree Pahhur and Raven had caught up, the remaining Armors were either dead or fleeing.

“Why did you run onto a battlefield!” Raven yelled. Syndil just stood there, hanging her head. “You could have died.” The man we had seen earlier stepped in.

“Hey, calm down. She's a tough cookie.” He said, patting her head gently. “Plus weren't you training her to one day inherit your sword? She has to know what a battle feels like.”

“Not this kind of battle!” Raven said, suddenly seething. “She is all I have left. Don't you understand. This isn't time for training, this is survival.”

“And you think sheltering her is going to help her survive? What happens if you die? What then? Who will protect her?”

“Look, Vyrse. I'm happy your alive, but you don't know what we've been through. She is all I have left...” Raven stopped himself, a dark look crossing his eyes. Silence fell between the two of them for a few minutes before Vyrse turned around and slumped back against a tree.

“I'm sorry man.” He said quietly. The air was pregnant with tension.

“It's alright. I just happened so easily. All it takes is one bullet.” Vyrse patted the ground next to him.

“Why don't you sit down for a little while? You've got to be tired.” Grudgingly Raven sat; and almost immediately the two were asleep. I watched the man called Vyrse for a moment. His shaggy black hair and torn dark clothes gave him a dangerous look. At his waist were twin pistols, both shone lightly in the midday sun.

“They're not usually like this.” Syndil said suddenly. “Vyrse is a close family friend. He used to come by and hang out all the time. He'd tell me stories, and even bring me toys and stuff from his trips when I was really little. Later he helped Dad train me. He was always around, except for his sudden trips. He would be gone for weeks then show back up, usually he'd be wearing that same black jacket. Sorry. I don't know why I'm telling you all of this... It's just... first Mom... now this...” She was tearing up, and I pulled her into a hug.

“It's okay.”

“But I don't want them to be fighting like this. Things are bad enough as it is.”

“It's alright, it didn't sound like they were fighting too hard. They're just worried.”

“And tired.” Pahhur added quickly before I shushed her.

“You should probably get some sleep too. We'll stay up and keep watch.”

My instincts told me to head towards what I assumed to be north. As fast as I live, I cannot distrust my instincts. As I sped along I came across a terrain change that had me stop in my tracks. I moved from the very perfectly healthy forest into a desolate desert.

I turned and reexamined the space. A thin purple line, again. I dug my hands into the sand on one side, reaching for the other. I quickly hit soil. I dug a bit on both sides, I tried to dig out the line, no matter what I did the line shifted with the outermost lair. If I poured sand on top the line shifted to the top part as rapidly as I placed it. It was like an ugly wound, that no matter what a person does will still show.

I looked around, and realized the impossibility of the terrain. The desert, was no more than five meters around. I could see the forest in all directions. Like the two were trying to overlap each other, and the forest won.

Deciding I would need tools to analyze this further I began leaving. No sooner had I moved back into the forest, than I felt the ground quake. The lines behind me shone brighter, and the forested area shifted inwards, consuming the desert until not even the lines were left. I shook my head, there was nothing I could do now, I needed equipment before I could figure out what had happened.

I once again returned to my path, weaving between the trees; I wondered how there were so many. Considering the planet's state before the explosion. Yes we had been gradually regrowing, but much of the planet's surface was still covered in waste.

I paused my pondering for a moment as I passed someone. He was watching me carefully from halfway up a tree. He was a short man, with black hair spiked up to the sky and a white bandanna around his forehead. He wore a black cloak, under which I could just make out the hilt of a sword.

“It's not safe around here!” I called up to him. He smirked.

“That is not my concern.” He seemed to loose interest in me, and be looking elsewhere. After a moment he seemed to reconsider. “Have you seen a young girl, she has light blue, almost white hair and usually wears a white robe?” He seemed a mixture of annoyed and angry.

“No, I did find a few people back that way. One of them was incredibly strong. But I will keep an eye out.” He smirked back at me, then vanished. Come to think of it, we never had this many strong, or strange people on our planet either. Aside from Eggman. I continued musing as I moved further on.

Fan Fiction Chapter Series. Ryoga Chapter 3

“You think he'll be back?” Odin asked, as we sat outside again. At least an hour had passed since Goku left for food.

“I dunno, I get the feeling he's more likely to eat whatever he finds.” Odin grunted an agreement.

“Hey, I think I see someone.”

“Is it the bottomless hole back with food?”

“No they aren't flying. It looks like a woman and a child.” I went around to take a look, low and behold the object of my affection was running right for us.

“Akane!” I yelled as I leapt down the mountain side, uncaring of gravity.

“Ryoga!” She yelled back, surprised. “Look out!” I looked up, spotting men in black armor coming out of the woods. They were firing what sounded like machine guns. I felt a bullet hit my shoulder hard and bounce off.

“I'll handle them!” I yelled, landing solidly and charging. Fortunately there were only two of them, I shielded my head with my arms as I closed the distance. In less than a minute I was on top of them. I rapidly knocked both guns away, and in a consecutive move landed a solid punch into the chest plate of one of them. I felt air on the other side. They were empty inside. Rather than waste time pondering that I tried one of my usually more useless techniques.

“Bakusai Tenketsu!” I pressed my finger against the metal plate, and suddenly the creature exploded into fragments. Seeing this, the other one began to run, I quickly drew one of my bandanas off my head and tossed it, cutting the other neatly in half. Akane had caught up with me at this point and was breathing heavily.

“Thank you Ryoga. It's a good thing you had all that endurance training.” I remembered the training with a shiver. Still it was thanks to that beating that those bullets only left me with bruises.

“Come on, let's get inside.”

“Inside?”

“There's a little base in the mountain. We're fairly safe there.” I then noticed the kid that had been with Akane. “Who's the kid?”

“Dunno, just heard him calling out when I woke up. Then we ran into those things and I kept him close for safety.” We reached the foot of the mountain, and I quickly realized I had no clue how to get inside. While I was standing there, looking at the flush rock face, it swung out and hit me.

“Here you guys are.” Odin said, from the other side. I moved around and into view. “There's hidden doors like this all over the mountain. No way inside from the outside, unless yer me.” He led us to what was the main chamber; but was currently where we were storing the unconscious people.

“Mommy!” The kid yelled suddenly, and went over to one of the sleeping forms. “Wake up!” He started pushing at her, but she wouldn't budge. Odin put a hand on the boy's head.

“She'll wake up, just give her time.” The boy was a bit teary eyed that his mother wouldn't respond, and refused to leave her side. I turned to see Akane looking upset.

“I'm sure she'll wake up, they all will. I mean we did, and they're still breathing.”

“Won't they need food and water.”

“Well, about that. We kind of don't have any for ourselves right now.” Odin said, moving out of the room after checking each of the sleeping forms. “They'll be better off than us, they're asleep and not burning energy, we however are very much awake, and very much without food.”

“I'll go back up and wait for Goku to arrive.” I said, though it took Odin walking me out to the platform.

Dimensional Warriors: Metudo's Story Chapter 6

“Hey Metudo, remind me. Do giant flying lizards exist?” I gave Anatos a heavily skeptical look.

“You know well enough that they don't. And don't call them that, its insulting.” I turned, subconsciously following Anatos' gaze. “Call them, Dragon!” As I said the last word I saw what had prompted this conversation. There indeed was a very large dragon sitting in the field ahead. It's scales looked at first to be a pure white, but as the sun reflected off of some, a multitude of colors could be seen from the right angle. Unfortunately, the right angle was far too close to what was commonly referred to as a blood-thirsty and uncontrollable creature.

It was thrashing wildly as we watched, entranced. Seeming to be in enormous pain. My mind was screaming for me to run, but my legs just would not move. Until it turned its head. Our eyes locked. I sensed Anatos' fear reflex finally kick in and he bolted; but for me, time seemed to stand still. As our eyes held I felt myself being drawn in.

I saw a young man, surrounded by raging energies. He seemed chained down by them, he looked up at me.

“STAFF!” He yelled. Then repeated it, over and over again. Even as I felt myself being drawn out of the man's mind I heard that thought reverberating in my own head. My body was finally moving, and I ran opposite from Anatos.

“Look for some kind of staff!” I called over to Anatos. The image of it slowly seeping into my mind. “It should have a dragon head at one end. I'll draw this guy's attention!” As I spoke the man's draconian form was confusedly trying to figure out which one of us to chase. I opened my pack and found the only pot and a ladle.

“Oy! Over here!” I threw the pack over towards a tree and started banging the pot as hard as I could. The Dragon immediately made up its mind and chased after me. I only regretted my decision when I realized it could run just about as fast as I could; if not faster. I made for the trees, hoping they would slow it down. Sadly, as soon as it got nearby the trees literally moved aside for it to pass cleanly through. I tried levitating some nearby boulders and putting them in the things path; once again they simply moved themselves away. Now it was nearly on top of me, so I took the last available course of action. I ducked.

It cleanly barreled over me, skidding to a stop a good distance away. I immediately turned and began running in the opposite direction. I could see Anatos in the distance waving the staff, and broke for him.

“Throw it!” I yelled as soon as I was in range. As he did I caught it with my power and threw it towards the Dragon. It caught the staff cleanly in one of its front claws; and stopped dead. It began to shrink, the scales receded and became flesh. Soon a young, slightly pale man with short hair was standing where the Dragon had once been. I realized his hair was the same color as the his scales had been, white except from certain angles.

“Thank you!” He said quickly. Then fell silent.

“So I guess the stick keeps you in a human form.” I said. He shook his.

“It suppresses my energy. So I don't transform. That's a least what she told me.” I didn't pry, he seemed to be the type that kept his thoughts to himself. Which was weird, because I had been hearing Anatos' thoughts since this morning, and I could hear nothing from him.

“What kind of power is that though? You moved stuff around with no effort.”

“Actually, they moved for me. During the ritual she called it the power of Balance. I'm not sure of everything involved in that, but apparently things listen to me.” I thought for a moment.

“Well it would be stupid if it just meant you had perfect balance now, maybe it is the balance of the world. You know, light and dark, good and evil, the in-between, the gray.”

“I guess. Kinda hard to tell actually.” Then he seemed suddenly embarrassed. “I'm sorry, my name is Jato. I've been rambling like an idiot and I don't even know you.”

“Metudo, and this is Anatos. It's alright, I'm pretty sure you've been through the same thing we have.”

“Probably, I don't remember much though. I woke up, and found this woman, she took one look at me, smiled and... then I woke up in a circle of some kind with her chanting over me. Then nothing. I barely remember what I was doing as a Dragon. I remember your voice in my head. But that's it.”

“Huh. Well, we're heading North. It's the safest place for now, and more company is always welcome. Just don't let go of that staff again.”

“Trust me, I won't.” He said, somehow strapping it to his back. At first I was curious, but then I didn't want to know.

“Come on you two! It's almost noon and I'm starving over here!” Anatos called for us; and we began moving onward.

Ted Selden New Piece

Pencil Sketch

Ted's Comments:

This guy comes from a story I was writing a long time ago. The story itself is on break, but the subject here is a fear demon who delights in the pain of those around him. It normally hides in bodies of unborn children, and then used the body as a cocoon until it is ready to emerge. Once the shell is discarded, the demon must find a another host in order to affect the physical world on the level it wished to achieve. The strain it has on the host body is oppressive. Once it enters an unborn child, the infant will inevitably emerge physically deformed: and often stillborn. If stillborn, the demon seeks another host. If alive, it will remain in the body and cause as much human suffering as possible. The soul of the child is crammed into the subconscious where it influences the sadistic instincts of the demon. The soul returns to the after life when the body is discarded by the creature. The version of the demon seen here is the intermediate stage. The host body is decomposing to the point that the demon is almost ready to emerge. All the rotten flesh is hidden by the rags and discarded clothing that it has accumulated. Despite the disguise, I wanted a sense of malevolence to emerge from the figure. The background consists of vague semi-creepy images that I wanted to use to enhance the feeling of the demon. This guy would make his appearances late some nights to terrorize people, but when he's ready, he sends whole towns into chaos. Comments are welcome.
David's Comments:

Honestly, when I first saw this guy I thought he was an assassin from Assassin's Creed. Don't know why I would've thought that considering Ted hasn't played Assassin's Creed. But still. The back story here is a little creepy for my tastes, and disturbing. I believe the story Ted is referring to is Lunx Lamine but I'm not 100% on that. Still really well done picture, and very creepy.

Dimensional Warriors: Neko's Story Chapter 5

I was still upset by the time I woke up. But there wasn't much I could do about it. Herm had always been like this; it was infuriating. My thoughts were interrupted by a deep yawn. At least I knew why Pahhur was acting so strange. I picked out some bread and ate quietly. The sun had been up for a while, it was just about high enough that we could go into the city. I didn't see Pahhur in the campsite, but I was pretty sure she was around.

I was wrapping up packing when Pahhur stumbled back, bits of branch still clinging to her lips. She seemed to be either really upset or really pissed off. Then I remembered that she was probably feeling the effects of PMS for the first time. I decided to keep quiet, and let the hormonal girl do what she wanted.

The town was a ruined mess when we got there. Half buildings, streets that were busted open, cracks and cuts ran through half the place, the rest was crumbled masses of concrete. Suddenly Pahhur jumped in front of me, drawing her blade. A second later an enormous sword crashed into Pahhur's. The pressure from the blow threatened to knock me off my feet. Pahhur herself had sunk into the tar of the street. The man on the other end of the blade paused for a moment, looking us over. He was tall, with thick muscles. He had short pure white hair, despite his you face. He wore what I assumed used to be a shirt/jeans/jacket combination at one point. Now they looked more like rags. Then again we weren't much better off by now.

“You're not those armored things, are you?”

“No, we're trying to get rid of them.” Pahhur said quickly. The man backed away a bit, but didn't drop his blade.

“Well move along then, there's no more food or supplies here.”

“We're not looking for supplies.” I said quickly. “We're actually trying to get the people that are still out here to safety.” He stared at me for a while before finally responding.

“You mean to tell me, two young women are here to safe me?” He let out a healthy laugh. “I mean, this one has potential, but you don't even have a weapon.” I suddenly felt both very angry and very useless. I was a pretty good fighter, sure. I knew my way around weapons, but that didn't change the fact that I was currently unarmed. Not to mention I couldn't help but feel the weapons I could handle wouldn't help much. Unless I had a lot of daggers and some cover. While I was mulling this over, Pahhur started talking.

“She'd be pretty dangerous if we could find her a sword; or something. Besides right now shes navigating. How'd you think we found you?” I was nudged. I realized that Pahhur wanted me to pull out the orb.

“Well... This is useful.” The man said after looking the map over, he stood straight up and offered his hand to Pahhur. “Name's Raven. My daughter is up in those ruins, I'll go get us packed.” I took the opportunity to look over the orb again. There was another blue dot heading our way, but the current ring of Armors would surely get him by roughly nightfall. I pointed it out to Pahhur, and she nodded quietly. As Raven returned there was indeed a girl with him. She had long blond hair, a moderate bust, and despite how thin she looked, there seemed to be a hidden strength about her.

“You guys wouldn't happen to have any pads for women would you?” Pahhur asked suddenly. I felt the blood rush to my face and hit her across the back of the head, hard.

“What she should be talking about is, we're surrounded; and there is someone heading this way. They won't make it to us if we don't do something about the barricade.”

“Not a problem.” Raven said; redrawing his blade. “This is an old blade, built to fight anything. It initially was made to be a reflective shield. I learned recently it works just as well on bullets. I'll go clear 'em out.” Pahhur got up off the ground.

“I'll go too. Their bullets can't hurt me.” The two of them ran off, leaving me and the girl. I felt a light tugging on my arm. I looked down at her; she was holding out a package.

“We.. do have a few pads. I rescued them.” I placed the pack in my bag for now, and held out my hand.

“My name's Neko.” She took it hesitantly.

“Syndil.”

Fan Fiction Chapter Series. Shadow Chapter 2

New Shadow Chapter! Enjoy!

The Floating Island. The home of Knuckles and the Master Emerald. I wouldn't recognize it but for the half a shrine that hung literally over my head. Somehow the island had been cut into pieces, leaving the part with the Master Emerald still aloft. But what could do this? When the island fell, it obviously didn't preform its usual graceful fall, landing with the inhabited side still facing the sky, it seemed to have tumbled. Ending with most of it probably buried underground now.

Obviously the bomb was not made to destroy, but perhaps instead relocate. Possibly something similar to my own Chaos Control teleport technique. I set the still unconscious girl down where I could see her and made a quick survey of the wreckage.

Right where the shrine was cut, there was an odd purple line. Beneath it, the earth looked like it had been cut clean. In fact it was almost perfectly smooth. Now the big question in my mind was who could have done this? No one came to mind out of the many villains that had threatened our world before. Not even Eggman has the level of power required to teleport an entire planet. Then I heard something.

I moved rapidly to conceal myself and watch the sleeping girl. A man emerged from the woods. He looked unlike the humans of Station Square. He was regal, his skin was as pale as fresh snow; almost to emphasize that he wore a white robe, and a flowing poofy white band over his shoulder. What struck me strongest was when he moved to the girl and seemed to reach out to her. His yellow eyes took on a strange expression his clawed hand moved gracefully. My first instinct was this person was bad news.

“If you value your life, stop right there!” I called out, moving from my hiding place. He seemed unsurprised as he looked at me. Then he returned to what he was doing. I kicked into high speed as well as my spin dash, if he hadn't moved his arm as quickly as he did, he would be missing it.

Now in between the two, I stood my ground.

“Don't get in my way.” He said, quietly, but with a force of emotion behind those words; like venom waiting to come out. He pulled his band back and rested his hand on the hilt of a sword. I didn't feel comfortable fighting while having the girl directly behind me, so I moved in, hoping to stop him before he drew his weapon.

Fortunately for me, the blade was stopped on the rings I wear around my wrists. However, the force and speed with which he struck nearly knocked me off my feet. I dug in and held my ground; electricity seemed to spark off the blade, but now I knew this was a powerful opponent and I was not about to get cut.

After a few seconds of struggling in deadlock we broke apart, immediately I began moving. I took advantage of my superior speed, moving rapidly out of the way of his cautious attacks. He was toying with me. I couldn't help but grin. Once again I shifted gears and almost instantaneously got behind him and threw a punch. The space between my fingers flared with pain as his blade blocked my strike. However in that instant I spun in and landed a kick right across his smug face.

Once again we put some distance between us. I looked at my hand, it felt like the cut was still opening; like electricity was trying to pour into the rest of my body. Fortunately I was hardy, and my skin was tough. There was a little bit of blood, but the blow hadn't been deep enough. I looked over at him, he was smiling. He now had his blade in an openly aggressive stance. Even though he was now closer to the girl, he showed no intention of abandoning this fight.

“Sesshoumaru-sama...” A delicate, frail voice on the winds. The girl was stirring. Immediately the man I had been fighting was by her side; his weapon sheathed. I moved cautiously now, watching him closely.

The girls eyes fluttered open, and she simply smiled up at the man over her.

“Sesshoumaru!” She yelled out, pulling herself close to him. He held her there for a moment before picking her up and returning her to her feet.

“I'm sorry.” I said, realizing now that I had made a mistake. “I was just trying to keep her safe.” Then I felt arms wrap around me. The girl had come over to hug me. I just froze.

“Thank you.” She said softly, then bounced over to Sesshoumaru; who had an unreadable look on his face.

“Thank you for keeping her safe. To show my respect I won't kill you.” That pompous. I was shaken from my stupor by those arrogant words.

“I'd like to see if you could.” I almost wanted him to pick up the fight again now; but he seemed disinterested.

“If I were you, I'd find somewhere to hide. Come Rin.” He said, before turning and heading back into the forests. I decided it wasn't worth following them and moved on in search of my own clues.

Fan Fiction Chapter Series. Ryoga Chapter 2

New Ryoga chapter. Enjoy!

There was a lightly tanned field encircling the base of the mountain that stretched a good half-mile between the base and the sparse woods. To one side a clear stream bubbled out and halfway around before heading off into the distance. The sun was just barely rising over the nearby treetops.

The platform Odin had brought me to was a full circle roughly thirty feet up. It acted almost like a crow's nest, allowing people to move around the mountain. Of course it was apparently just Odin and myself here, but if something came after us, as Odin implied we would see it well before it saw us.

Satisfied I slid to a sitting position, watching the sun slowly creep up. I heard Odin's armor settling on the other side. So I waited. For a little while at least. Before a small figure could be spotted in the distance. As he came into view I realized it was a flying man. The closer he got the more it became clear not only was he flying but he was carrying something that looked like a low hanging bag. Unfortunately the bulk of it hung just under the cover of the trees so I couldn't immediately make it out.

“Uh, Odin. We have a flying guy coming right for us.”

“Bull.”

“I'm totally serious.” I heard him come over.

“Well, damn. Can you see what he's got?”

“It looks kind of like a bag, or a platform, or something. Looks like its made of vines.”

“Yeah, hey are those people in that thing?”

“They look asleep.”

“He doesn't seem malicious. Hey! Down Here!” Odin yelled out suddenly. The man took notice and gently came towards us, trying to rest his load on the thin platform.

“Just hold it there for a sec if you can!” I said quickly, as I tore a small hole in the vines and started lifting the unconscious people out. Odin joined me, and we soon had five young men, an elderly man and woman, three young women, and two children. None of them stirred. Finally, the flying man flung the bag easily over the side and landed.

“Thank goodness I found some people that were awake.”

“So you just found these people?”

“Yeah, they won't wake up, no matter what I do. I couldn't leave them sleeping outside.”

“Right. Name's Odin.” He held out his strong hand.

“Goku.” The other man took it. “And you are?”

“Ryoga.” I said quickly. “How'd you manage to carry all those people, and fly?” He smirked.

“Let's just say I'm a strong person. Do you guys happen to have anything to eat?”

“Yeah Ryoga's got a good amount of ramen in his bags. Should last us a week if we're careful.” Odin said.

“Awesome! I'm starving!” Goku vanished into the passageway Odin had motioned towards. We shrugged and started carrying people in.

“Let's put them in here for now. My predecessor made a lot of caverns for people to sleep in, I think he was expecting this.” Odin said, placing one of the men down on the cold floor in a darkish room. Odin proved to have exceptional strength himself, as we managed to get our task done within an hour before we wandered to where Goku had presumably ended up.

However the first thing we saw was the entryway strewn with noodle cups.

“What the hell!” I burst in to see Goku with half a cups worth of ramen crammed in his mouth, and just about all of my supplies emptied out.

“What part of if we're careful did you not understand?!” Odin yelled from behind me. Goku had this blank look on his face and quickly swallowed what was left.

“I'll get more! I just needed a quick boost! Thank you for the meal!” He said cheerfully getting up.

“You better, we have to eat too.” Goku grinned and took off.

“I'll be right back!” I sighed and looked through the carnage. There were still a handful of cups that hadn't been touched yet. So long as the sleeping people didn't wake up we had food for two more days.
