Dimensional Warriors: Into the Maw Chapter 9

Odin
Guys, let's stop for a moment.” Metudo said, his eyes never leaving Anatos.

This is the fourth time we stopped, I know yer worried but nothing good will come of waiting.” I said.

Yeah, I'm fine. I always look about this pale.” Anatos said, shaking loose some stiff muscles.

Still, we're in enemy territory, we need to stay in top shape.” Metudo said, sitting against the wall. As soon as Anatos caved and sat next to Metudo, the latter began pampering the former. I leaned against the wall, recalling everything I knew about Metudo and Anatos when I heard a loud clacking on the stone tiles.

Is that a horse?” I asked. The other two just gave me a confused look. But the sound was getting progressively louder. I moved towards the corner just as a giant barreled into me, nearly knocking me flat. Fortunately I managed to catch myself and bounced back up. In front of me stood a beast I had never seen before. It stood a good foot above me, it's lower half looked equine, while from the waist up it had the chiseled frame of a man; culminating in a muzzled face with two long bull horns curving from the top. It didn't waste much time in charging into me again, its twin massive fists cleaving into my metal plated sides.

I stopped myself from collapsing, knowing that all it needed was a second of weakness to finish me. Instead I forced my blurring eyes to lock into it's black stare. It moved forward, closing the small gap between us, this time I saw the fist coming and steadied myself against it. With an explosive sound it's large hand collided with my open palm. A second later it's second fist was cleanly trapped in my other hand. Shaking off the damage from earlier I pushed back against the beast. I soon realized the futility of this, and ducked low instead; letting its pent up force wash over my head.

The tunnel shook with the creature's fall, and I wasted no time in slamming both fists into it's exposed muzzle. It's body went rigid for a moment then became still. Finally I allowed myself to fall against the wall coughing up a little bit of excess fluid the creature had knocked loose.

Now... We can rest.” I said, my lungs starting to clear. A minute later Anatos stood up and drew his weapon. Before I could stop him he cleanly sliced off the creature's head. “What did you do that for!”

So it doesn't get back up, idiot.” I stood up.

You never kill a defenseless opponent.” I growled at him. He just stared back at me until I realized I was holding him by the scruff and set him down.

You do what you want, but I'm not going to take any chances.” Anatos said, sliding his weapon back into its sheath. I sat back down and looked away from the mutilated body and Anatos, my eyes lingering on Metudo, sitting there, and smiling.

Logs: Herm, Antigon Pahhur

Name: Antigon Pahhur Herm
Title: Goddess of Fire
Gender: Female
Age: 21
Physical Age: 19
Height: 1.65 m
Weight: 62 kg
Hair Color: Red
Eye Color: Red
Skin Color: White
Blood Type: B+

Physical Abnormalities:
-Pahhur has an unnatural appetite spurred by the fact that her stomach is a natural furnace; from which most of her excessive energy spurs. Perhaps due to this her jaws can apply massive pressure as well as heat in order to break down tougher material like wood, stone or metal. A related side effect is that most poisons that travel the digestive tract have no effect as they too are incinerated in what is her stomach.

Energy Abnormalities:
-Pahhur identifies as a male.
-Pahhur's shield, a layer of intensive heat, is somewhat unstable when compared to other Gods. Where most of our shields react to our mental state, allowing in objects we view as harmless and attacking dangerous objects, Pahhur's seems to be constantly attacking her body. My theory is that so long as Pahhur views herself as male the shielding will persist in assaulting her body; resulting in abnormal body temperature and a hindered period.

Notable Weaponry:
-Inferno: The blade passed down to her by the previous Fire God, it provides a stable source of energy as well as giving form to her ideas.
-Dragonsbane: A blade that supposedly had no owner other than Donare, it was forged to be the perfect counterbalance to Avarus.

Notable Techniques:
Fire Ball: The most basic of fire techniques, Pahhur has even learned to make these explode.

“Warning! Warning! Protector class troops loose in the base! Sealing infected tunnels!” A plesant voice came on over the alarms before the pathways on either side closed up suddenly.

“Purging infected zones!” I heard the low squeal of gas pouring through the vents.

“Shit!” Koga yelled, his mouth covered. In a simple strike Choutzu cracked open the largest vent.

“What are you doing! You're just letting more in!” I yelled, moving to stop him, but Soifun grabbed me.

“Don't worry about me guys. I'll stop this.” He said, slipping easily into the small hole. A minute later there was a small explosion somewhere above us a second later a small jet of fire flew out of the open vent, catching on the gas in the room.

“Purge Failed, Three enemy casualties recorded. Venting tunnels and releasing troops.” I felt sick at how fast everything had just happened. Who else had died? Where? Why? I sat down as the walls opened up, bring with them a gust of fresh air.

“Well, we know where we are now.” Soifun said her eyes glued to the tunnels.

“Three people dead.” I muttered, slinking lower. Akari knelt next to me and wrapped an arm around my shoulders.

“We don't have time for a pity party guys.” Koga said, rubbing his nose a little. “You heard the alarms, troops will be here any minute.” I got up slowly.

“Haven't you heard of a 'moment for the dead'!” I grabbed him by his cuff, pulling him in close. “Or are the rumors about demons true?” He gave me a cold stare.

“We will be joining them if we don't get moving. There will hopefully be time to mourn later.” As he spoke his piercing eyes never left mine. Finally I felt my nerves settle down and let go of him.

“Right. Then which way?”

“I think I smell humans this way.” Ayame said, returning from halfway down one of the halls.

“I guess that's the best shot we're going to get.” Koga said, motioning to the rest of our small group.

Kazuma-san.” Yukina filled my vision. I must have fallen asleep or something, all I could remember was I somehow got Yukina to go on a date with me. Which was infuriating if I did fall asleep, where was I? I looked around the room slowly, red wallpaper, a nightstand, a TV on a set of drawers, and underneath the two of us a queen-sized bed with deep red sheets.

Uh... How long was I out?” She smiled up at me.

You passed out on the street, so I took you to the nearest hotel to get some rest.”

Uh-huh.” I looked around the room again, trying to register my surroundings. “And this is a love hotel...”

Yep!” She said.

Uh-huh... Wait! What?!” I nearly shot out of the bed, but she held me down.

I'm sorry... Is this not to your liking?”

Hang on, you don't... Who are you?” I got up and backed away when I felt a hand clasp on my shoulder. I turned to see an iron clad figure standing in the room, His pale face obscured by the shadows.

Enjoy this Kazuma Kuwabara. It could either be the first of many, or your last night of pleasure.” I pulled away, now turning to the new form.

Who are you!” I yelled drawing energy into my hands. He simply put his hand up into the air.

I just want what is best for you; and I can give it to you, if you help me.” My mind started flooding with memories, the Solarus, the genocide, the Tower, Avarus.

I won't help you. Now where am I?” I formed two swords of my energy.

You are in a love hotel, with your lovely girlfriend.” I lowered my blade. “Cut me all you want, you will not get out of here like that.” I retracted my energy hesitantly. “Good. Now you have two options. You can help me, or you can use the door and try to get out of here. I assure you, the later will end in your death.” I turned and moved to the wooden door. “Remember what I can offer you, perhaps when you know more of me, we will talk again.” With that I opened the door into the hall, and began walking out.

Kazuma-san!” I heard Yukina calling out to me, but I started out anyway.

Soon I was on the streets in the middle of Tokyo, or something that looked like Tokyo.

Kuwabara!” I turned to see Yusuke charging at me. “I'll beat you today!” He yelled, jumping into a kick. As if someone was moving me I stepped out of the way and clobbered him easily. “I'll... Get... You...” There was no way this is reality. I shivered as I tried to wake myself up, then began running trying to find a way out.

No matter what I tried, buses, trains, running into the woods, it was all the same. My friends, shadows of their former selves, the world done in impeccable detail, and me trapped in this reality. Desperate I began pulverizing the nearest wall, breaking it into rubble with my fists. I noticed something then. A white light, almost like television static. It began in the distance; I ran towards it. Soon it enveloped me, tearing away the false world. All at once my vision filled with darkness, it was hard to breath.

I reached out and my hand stopped against glass. With just a little force I managed to push the glass out, smoke immediately billowed away from me, giving me some air. I crawled out of the metal tomb coughing. As I did I heard others nearby, all emerging. There were eight capsuled lined up, and around me were Choutsu, Ayame, Akari, Shinosuke, Koga and Soifun.

I took a moment to look at my surroundings. We were in a dimly lit stone passage that seemed to stretch out in two directions.

Ugg... That was...” Koga said, just before an alarm began ringing, drenching the hall in red light.

Akane
Jeez, Tech sure did a lot of work here.” Ranma said, his arms crossed behind his head. What had once been a thin path attached to a small central pillar was now a wide street leading to a landing where Tech had pulled the portal open to resemble more of a doorway, allowing us to go through five at a time.

On the other side was a devastating sight. The ground was a disturbing mixture of puce and gray sand; with some scorched black rocks lying around. There was no plant-life, and the smell was enough to make most normal people puke. The sky was a cloud black mess, no sunlight pierced the clouds. We huddled closer together as we passed through that gate, even at my level I could feel an overwhelming presence in the air; something was watching us.

As the last group passed through the portal collapsed behind us, removing the happy view of a green world. I shivered a little as people around us began setting up a camp; A few people were organized together to go searching. I was asked to help with the tents. A few minutes later; Raven, Syndil, Neko and Sally were sent out using a tracker to find where Sonic's signal was coming from.

A few hours later they hadn't returned, and we were starting to set up another group of people to go find them when the ground opened up, swallowing the camp whole.

Sally
After an hour and a half of following the signal we found a small cave dug into the ground, there was a single armored guard at the gate, It had crimson armor, painted in gold stripes; and a large blade strapped to its back. We were hiding a few feet away behind a rock.

Alright, plans...” Neko asked.

Nothing good, the terrain is wide open, he'd be able to see and hear us long before we could get to him.” Raven said.

Sounds like a straight up fight then.” Neko muttered. “Well then, Raven and I will rush it, you two break for the cave. If its more dangerous inside, come right back out.” With a signal we were all running right across the open plains, Neko broke off, looking to attack from an opposite side, however in a single motion the guard caught Neko's hand and stopped Raven's blade. I didn't stop, and charged right past into the cave.

Inside was a dim lit room, making the tile on the floor look gray and lifeless. In the center of the small room was a machine, one that looked like a tanning bed. The top was a clear glass, I could see Sonic lying inside; he was breathing slowly.

Nicole, can you get this thing open?” I asked my pocket friend.

I think so Sally.” She responded, her machinery churning from the calculations. I waited, watching, then the capsule began to sink into the floor. As it did it seemed to create a torrent of wind, trying to pull me in. I saw Neko flying down the tunnel towards me, we collided and fell into the darkness.

Dimensional Warriors: Into the Maw Chapter 8

Leukos
God Damn this is some rough shit.” I complained, stretching my arms from the last trap.

Yeah, its almost like the maze is alive.” Neko said, checking our new set of options. “Three paths. Crossroads all over again.” She said.

I don't think a single one of them is safe...”

Yeah, screwed no matter what.”

Guys?” I heard a familiar voice and looked down the left path. “Antigon, er Pah!” I said; confused for a moment. Pahhur was walking towards us, but he looked exactly how he did before the lights. Short black hair, slightly overweight and an unshaven face.

You're... normal?” I said, immediately cautious.

Yeah, I fell into some sorta weird trap, and by the time I got out I was completely fine again.” He said, half-grinning. “You guys can still call me Pah though. I know I used to hate that name, but well I got used to it in the last few months.”

Well, I guess it's a good thing you found us then.” I said, walking up to get a closer look.

Yeah!” He pulled me into a hug. “I missed you guys! It's god awful down here, and smells like ass.” I got free of his grip, and nodded.

What kind of trap did you say you were caught in?” Neko asked suspiciously. I moved to one side, wondering the same.

Well it was this really big machine, I was cuffed to it and it was like my powers were being drained away. When they went, I was left like this.” He said, looking a little upset.

So you're completely normal then...” Neko said.

Not to mention it sounds like Avarus.” I said.

Right, he's the only one we know of who can drain our energies.”

Which means Pah needs to be defended now, and Avarus is even stronger.” I said.

It also tells us who's home we're invading. Come on, things just got a lot worse!” Neko said, choosing a direction at random.

We have to find the others, and be careful of any other traps like that one.” Pah said chasing after us. However it wasn't long before he was breathing heavily and we had to slow down to allow him to keep up. “Sorry guys.” He said between exhaling. “I'm just gonna slow you down like this. Head on without me.”

No way, you just got back to normal, and honestly you'd just find more trouble if we left you alone.” I said.

Speaking of trouble...” Neko said, skidding to a stop. Ahead of us was a small troop of Solarus.

Great, now we know.” I said, forming a bow in my hands and letting off a few arrows into the crowd. Unlike what normally happened, a thin mist seemed to be left behind from the decimated remains. Shapes forms, looking like people and hesitated a moment before being pulled through the walls.

Let's keep moving.” Neko said after a moments silence.

Dimensional Warriors: Into the Maw Chapter 7

Odin
Just... Get through...” I told Anatos as I pushed my body against the collapsing ceiling; third in a line of classic traps. As soon as the little guy was out of the way I focused on the stone beneath me, pulling the floor up around me to hold the ceiling. “Whew. Spiked walls, Boulders, now this...” I said, breathing heavily.

Yeah, whoever is down here they want to keep people out.” Anatos said, as his eyes shifted over the paved stone that made up this dreary maze.

At least the wires were burned out on that first trap, we might've never woken up...” I said, standing back up and ready to go. We continued onward at a slow pace, partially keeping an eye out for more traps and partially because Anatos was already showing signs of weariness. “Here, let me carry you for a bit, you look like you need to rest.”

No, I'm fine. I'm not going to be stopped by a simple maze.” He said before using his staff to chug some water. I just sighed.

Alright, the offers open whenever...” I fell.

Wha!” Anatos was falling alongside me, there just seemed to be darkness ahead of us. I tried to reach out for something I could manipulate, but I found nothing. An eternity seemed to pass, I felt weightless in the air, tumbling. Anatos leveled his staff in front of him and began spraying water ahead of us. The water almost immediately turned around and drenched him before flying even further upwards. “Can you feel the walls?”

No, they're too far away.” I said.

I don't think we're falling anymore...”

Yeah I get the same feeling.”

I think we're stuck here.” I tried to spin around, trying to reach something. Strangely there was still wind, my hair was being whipped back, but I had to agree with Anatos; we weren't actually moving.

We pondered for a while, before Anatos finally started moving.

I have an idea.” He grabbed onto my leg and began climbing me, pushing himself against the wind until he was in front of me. “Hold your breath!” He said, spinning his staff; slowly at first, then by the time it was barely a blur in front of us water began pouring out; filling my vision. The water of course began pouring straight up, the force of which began pushing us upwards; soon I could feel us gaining momentum as we flew straight up.

We shifted a little and fell out of the spray back onto solid ground. Anatos collapsed next me, breathing heavily. I was busy trying to refill my lungs as well when I heard something moving in the tunnels. With a last cough I forced myself to my feet, drawing my blade. Metudo turned the corner and stopped.

Anatos!” He said running in and checking over his brother's body. “Are you alright?” Anatos took a deep breath and sat up.

Yeah, I'll be fine. What about you?”

Don't sit up, you need to rest for now.” Metudo said, pushing him back down. He looked over at me. “You too. You look like you've been through hell.” I sat down, letting my breathing steady itself.

Looks like you're no worse off for wear, considering all the traps around here.”

I must've gotten lucky.” He said, still checking over Anatos. “You're gonna be okay Anatos. We'll get out of this, right?” Anatos smiled a little.

We'd better get moving.” I said, seeing color returning to Anatos' face.

He's still not recovered, we should stay put and let him rest.” Metudo said deftly.

He's well enough, if he needs to rest more I'll carry him.” Metudo gave me a cross look and then agreed.

Hey, can you walk?”

I'm fine Metudo.” Anatos said, getting right up and moving to the front. I sighed as the three of us began moving back down the winding paths.

Dimensional Warriors: Into the Maw Chapter 6

“Move it!” I hissed, pushing Leukos past the latest in a series of traps. I slipped nimbly past the slots in the wall as the scythe blades slid past behind me.

“Well, obviously most of this place is still working.” Leukos grumbled.

“Yeah, we can also tell he's one for the classics.” I said, watching as the blades settled back down.

“Arrows, pits, walls... What else is down here?” Leukos said, counting off his fingers.

“We better not stay still for too long.” I said, pushing forward.

“I hope the others have been doing okay...”

“They'll be fine Leukos. We all pulled our weight in that last battle. If the only thing down here is a bunch of cheesy traps, then this should be a cakewalk.” As she said that the ceiling ahead slammed shut.

“Dead end...” I turned around and the path behind us had been sealed as well.

“I guess we'll have to bust our way out.” I began bulking my arms up and moving towards the first wall when I felt my foot start to slip. I moved backwards and caught myself in time; a pit had opened between us and the far wall.

“Neko!” I turned as the walls moved away from us, leaving us on a small pillar above the dark pits. The lights above suddenly turned up, filling the room and illuminating the spikes below.

“No fair...” I said, sitting down.

We pondered our predicament for a while, with no room to get momentum I couldn't even make a jump. There wasn't even enough room to really fly.

“Ah... I think I have an idea.” I turned to Leukos. “But you have to trust me.”

“Okay...”

“Now bulk up and prepare to hit that wall.” He said smiling as he drew out his small pole. Electricity pulsed towards me, wrapping around my body and forming something of a harness. He tested it, tugging a little; before bodily lifting me and throwing me out over the pit; away from my intended wall. My back shuddered as the line went taunt, he immediately began swinging me in small circles. I recovered my wits enough to finish bulking up my arms just as he loosened the length and sent me flying towards the far wall. I felt the stone crash around my arms as I went clean through. Quickly I gripped the line and pulled Leukos through after me.

We both collapsed as soon as it was obviously safe. I let myself go rigid against the cool wall, hoping my head would stop spinning soon.

“Okay, so still technically a classic... But that was evil.” Leukos said. I nodded.

“Yeah, come on. We need to keep moving. I don't want to go through that again.” He sat up after me, and the two of us continued into the winding pathways.

Tails
“What do you mean he's gone!” I slammed my hands on the table, glaring at InuYasha. We had landed safely, and Shadow had returned less than an hour ago empty-handed.

“There's no body, in fact I didn't even see him fall from the blast. So he either burned up in the attack or fell through the Meidou.” InuYasha said.

“If he went though the Meidou, we can get him back... right?”

“Only three people have gone through the Meidou and come back, me, Kagome and Sesshoumaru. Each time we had jewel shards helping us out. The jewel is gone. So if he's in the Meidou, we can't get to him.” I wanted to yell some more, but Sally held me back.

“We're going to find him.”

“Sally...”

“He's definitely in the Meidou.” She said. “Open it up.” She turned to InuYasha.

“No.” He said; folding his arms. She stepped threateningly towards him.

“Calm down folks!” Tech suddenly yelled, bursting into the room. “I have his signal!”

“What?” I asked.

“His signal, the probes I put in him are sending.”

“...Probes?”

“Yes. Ingenious really, built inside the deepest part of the body my the nanobots I've got floating around.”

“Tech... What else have you been putting in us?”

“Nothing big. Just a couple of microphones, maybe a shock pad or two.” I decided to drop the subject and return to what was more important.

“Where is he?”

“Well, if you would look out into that new hole you helped make, you'd see a little island. There's a portal there, his signal is coming from the other side.”

“Pack you things Tails, we're going.” Sally said, securing her bag.

“Hold it hold it!” Tech got in our way again. “This is likely a one way trip. The rest of us are probably going through, but you guys don't necessarily have to. Even if you are going; you should still make sure your people have some sort of leader. Especially the Mobians. I'd suspect with the Solarus gone, the prejudices will be back soon, in force.” Sally seemed to hesitate, and gave in.

“Alright, how soon?”

“Three days. Pahhur needs about that much recovery time. InuYasha, spread the word to the other factions. We are moving in three days, most likely into a tough fight. Anyone who wants to come is welcome. There are a lot of guys here that are much stronger than we are, and we need the help badly.” With that he headed off to the portal.

“Well I'm going.” I said as soon as Sally turned to me.

“Of course. I'm going too. Come on, let's get the others and spread the word.”

Gohan
“So that's the deal then.” I said explaining it to the gathered group. “I'm pretty sure I don't have to ask the Saiyans, but what about the rest of you guys?”

“Well, I've been around your dad since the beginning; We're not going to back down now.” Krillen said, his wife standing behind him.

“Same for the three of us.” Yamcha said, motioning towards Tien and Choutsu.

“Obviously, we're going.” Chi-Chi said, Bulma and Videl standing not far behind.

“Where Yamcha goes, I go.” Puar said.

“And where the women go, I go.” Roshi said grinning.

“Piccolo you're coming too right?” He just nodded over to me. “Alright, well I've got our names down, seventeen of us. Not bad.”

Keiko
“No deal, you know I've gotten stronger Yusuke!”

“This isn't the same thing Keiko! You're not going, and that's final!” I stared him down before Kurama stepped between us.

“It's alright Yusuke, I will watch over her. Botan and Koenma have already asked for my protection.”

“They're going?”

“Yes, we may have need of non-combatants; she can stay with them in my care.”

“Fine, I'll put us down for seven.” Yusuke finally sighed.

“Nine.” Kurama corrected him.”

“What?”

“Yukina and George. Jin agreed to help Yomi organize the demons and relocate them somewhere else.” He just sighed again and slunk off.

Kagome
“InuYasha Sit!” There was a crash. “Alright, so there are fourteen of us going the six of us and Koga, Sesshoumaru, Rin, Ayame, Jaken, Kohaku, Ginta and Hakkaku.”

“Sounds good to me.” Koga said.

Kakashi
“Hokage... Are you sure about this?” I asked, holding the list of eighteen people. “I mean, once we rebuild, Naruto will be after your spot again. I don't think he will react well to being sent off like this.” I looked back at Tsunade.

“I made my decisions. This fight is larger than the village, it's larger than the war. Naruto needs to be there. I need to stay here and settle our people.”

“What about Gaara?”

“He offered. As the other last Kage remaining, he passed up a position of power to join the fight with his siblings.”

“Alright, odd that you chose this group.”

“They've fought together through a lot of rough times.”

“Alright, so you're sending Team Guy, Team Kakashi, Team Shino and Team Shikamaru?”

“Yes.”

“Alright, I'll had this over to Tech.”

Ichigo
“Sounds like yer retiring old man.” I said, as he handed me a list.

“Brat, these are the people I'm sending to support your team.”

“Yeah, Toshiro, Soifun, Byakuya, Ukitake, Zaraki, Shunsui, Mayuri and Komamura? This is most of the Gotei 13.”

“Yes. Add them to your usual group of five, some of their vice-captains and the Arrancar; Grimmjaw and Nelliel. You should have twenty people going with you.”

“Alright, but you better stay safe here.” He gave me a coy grin as I left.

Nami
“Luffy, be quiet for a moment. Jimbei, you're fine going with us right?”

“Yes, my people avoided most of the war by staying in the ocean. Fishman Island is also practically untouched; with Luffy's father helping rebuild the Marines as well, this world should be fine.”

“Hancock... You're coming as well?”

“Of course! This is going to be a hard battle, and Luffy-sama needs my assistance.”

“Well I'll put us down for eleven.”

Akane
Ranma!” Dad was trying to pin him. “You did this!”

I tried to stop her!” Ranma yelled back, avoiding the demonic head trailing behind him.

Dad, this is my choice. We can help people. That's what the Tendo School of Anything Goes Martial Arts stands for.”

But this is war!”

And I'm going.”

Then I shall stay by your side to the end!” Kuno...

Ranma-sama!” Kodachi...

Ran-chan.”

Okay that's enough. Just raise your hand if you're coming with and I'll put your name down.” I finally yelled, silencing the room. This ended in twenty-one names on our list:Ranma, Ryoga, Shampoo, Ukyo, Myself, Mousse, Konatsu, Happosai, Mr. and Mrs. Saotome, Dad, Kasumi, Nabiki, the Kuno family, Nanomi, Cologne, Akari, Taro and Shinosuke...

God I hope Tech has room for all the crazy...” I muttered as I left.

Sally
So we're in agreement. The ten of us will go. The Chaotix will stay here and settle the Mobians.”

Yeah, we'll get Sonic back no matter what.” Tails said.

I know it's rough, but we need to get ourselves ready. That means sleep.” I said, eying Tails. He sighed and nodded.

Tech
Within two days I had a list of over 100 people and began making modifications on the portal to compensate. The third day saw the edge of the pit crowded with those that were leaving with us.

I see them!” Shadow said, as we sped towards the falling people.

After the massive explosion, as the dust was settling we could see seven figures falling fairly quickly. Even as we ran I could to feel the ground shaking apart beneath us. I held onto Shadow for dear life as behind us the ground caved slowly into a glowing red pit. I could see the few people who hadn't fled from the flooding fleeing as well. Tail's ship flew in low next to us.

I'm gonna try and get those guy, but I might need a hand!” He yelled down at us.

Here, take her. I'll get them!” Shadow yelled back, tossing me roughly on top of the ship. I scrambled into the open doors as Shadow sped ahead, launching into the air.

That's weird, where's Sonic?” I looked out, counting the falling bodies.

I'm sure he's there, probably just behind the rubble!” I called back.

Get ready!” Tails yelled, swinging under the falling forms. There were a few heavy thumps from above, and I reached out in time to grab Ranma's ponytail; in turn Luffy caught himself on Ranma, stretching out to grab InuYasha. Shadow used this odd chain to leap out and pick up Yusuke.

Sonic!” Tails called out. Moving to loop back around and look.

You have to get these guys to safety!” Shadow yelled back. “I'll keep looking.” He landed momentarily on the ship and put Yusuke down before jumping back into the falling rubble. Tails hesitated for a moment before turning towards the mountain.

The sky opened above us as our combined power lit up the air. The day split open, letting starlight flood the planet. Childe burst into a swarm of tendrils, filling my view. But in my super form they might as well have been frozen as I cut my way in. We tore into Childe, ripping at its defenses, cutting through the dark flesh. But even as we did it just grew back.

“Guys! I fought someone like this before. We gotta destroy it in one go!” InuYasha called from behind, his sword was turning black. “Stand back! I'll open a pit into Hell! Meidou!” InuYasha's energy cut right through Childe's tendrils and expended just a little below the creature. It formed a black circle in the air, a second later it began to draw Childe in. However the creature resisted, firmly clamping tendrils on the sides.

“Futile! I am your Master!” It yelled up at us, against assaulting us with the dextrous tendrils.

“Spirit Gun!” Yusuke called out suddenly as an enormous burst of golden energy flew from his finger into Childe and began pressing him into the hole. Some of the others seemed to get the idea.

“Ka- Me- Ha- Me- Ha!” Goku channeled his energy calmly, slowly drawing everything into one point, before firing a streaming burst of pure blue energy into the back of Yusuke's Spirit Gun attack.

“Bijudama!” Naruto suddenly called, his human form standing defiantly atop the giant fox beneath him. The two had formed an excruciatingly large black ball, which burst into a beam, pressing next to Goku's blast.

“Kongosoha!” InuYasha called again, firing silver spines from his blade.

“Getsuga Tensho!” Ichigo called, a massive amount of black energy pouring out of his blade as he launched his attack into the swirling mix of energies that were slowly pushing Childe back, and at least preventing it from attacking us. That's when I spotted Ranma closing in towards the center of the blast, the point where the other attacks were meeting and in a lot of cases diffusing each other. Deftly she smashed her palm into that center.

“Hiryu Shoten Ha!” With one burst of energy the other forces swirled, mixed, and merged into one blast of focused white energy, pressing forward with unified force. Still it wasn't enough. Childe was defiantly holding on.

“Gomu Gomu no...” I heard Luffy behind me, his leg stretched out far into the air. It turned black, bulged out, and steam spewed from it. I saw my chance.

“Red Hammer!” His gigantic foot came crashing down with inhuman speed and force. Nimbly, I planted myself on the bottom of his foot, absorbing the acceleration as only my body could I braced myself and prepared to launch off the high speed attack.

His foot smashed into the combined energy, pushing it down further, but more importantly injecting me at high speed into the core of the blast. I took up that energy, adding it to my acceleration as I balled up and spun forward, going much faster than I could ever remember going. I saw Child, skin burning, limbs tearing, then shock as he spotted me pointed right at him. I uncurled seconds before coming in arms length of him and shifted my spin so my leg took up all the speed and force of the attack.

With a sound like an explosion my foot crashed into his face, shattering bone and launching both of us into the open pit below.

Comments:
Whew, alright and that's it for the big name fighters.
Not entirely, but now that this arc is over I can spread my focus a little more.
By the way, I cannot help myself:
"Don't cross the streams!"

Yeah I'm a bad person.

Dimensional Warriors: Into the Maw Chapter 5

Neko
Come on Neko! Moot's here!” I blinked a little. The living room looked the same as it always had, a little messy, especially since people always were over. But that's the problem with being popular isn't it. I smiled a little as I answered the door and accepted Moot away from his twin bodyguards. He looked so regal stepping slowly through the doorway. I counted the seconds as I closed the door.

He had already torn off his overcoat and was slumped over a couch teasing our cats with some string.

So what're we up to today?” I thought for a moment, the others would be over soon. “Well we could set up a movie while we wait.

Dibs on the bed!”

You know that bed can fit all of us right!” I called after him and sighed as I went over in my head who would be arriving. Jato, Lark, Zephos, Steel, Pah... wait.. who? I shook my head as the stray name seeped through. I could smell the chili mom was making, maybe it was making me hallucinate.

How 'bout Phantom!” Moot was calling to me, and I shook myself out of my stupor to go join him. As I opened the door to my room, all I saw was static, stretching out into infinity; and Moot sitting there, smiling back at me. I blinked and my room was back. The all encompassing bed, the shelves of memorabilia, the HD screen hung a little too high on the wall.

I stretched out on my bed, and started watching. It was one of the groups favorite movies, the others would probably be upset I started without them; but I needed to distract Moot. With a little cajoling we started singing along as the play slowly unfolded into its final acts.

As the movie reached its climatic moment and the phantom called out to Christine I felt rather than heard some sort of explosion around me. The static engulfed my world for a second before I was surrounded by darkness.

I coughed a little and discovered the darkness was actually smoke. My hand felt glass in front of me, and I pushed. Air rushed out suddenly, taking the smoke with it. I coughed a little as I crawled out of what was a small capsule. Everything came back at once; the light, Pahhur, the tower, the cave... We had gotten pulled in. I heard another capsule opening nearby and saw Leukos pulling himself out, coughing heavily.

Neko?” He shook a little, clearing his head.

We're in that cave aren't we.” I nodded. “Shit. What was that?”

The first trap?” I guessed.

Then why'd we get out?” He started examining the capsule while I looked around. There were high brown walls on either side, stretching out until the turned into multiple pathways. We were boxed in, and it looked depressingly like some sort of maze.

Huh. Look here, the wire's burned out.”

Must be an old trap.” I said. “But we're not out of the woods yet. Look.” He turned to and realized his surroundings.

Well... Shit.”

Yeah, probably laced with more traps too.” I said. I sniffed at the air, trying to catch the scent of the others, but the air was dead here. All I could smell was rot and dust.

Dimensional Warriors: Into the Maw Chapter 4

Syndil
I shivered a little as we began heading down to the portal's entrance. The red glow of the lava below gave the lone pillar a terrifying look. As I took my first step on the thin bridge down a fight broke out behind me.

No Marcus, we're taking Raven and Vyrse because they can fight. You need to stay here.”

I can fight. I've got a knife and everything. I'm even packed.”

I'm sorry Marcus, but we can't protect you where we're headed.” Jato turned around and headed towards where Neko and Marcus were arguing. He took Neko and Marcus aside, and after a moment I heard Neko yell. “Alright, but you better stay out of trouble.”

That had thankfully taken my mind off where my feet were taking me, and I turned to see the portal hovering in front of me; like someone had cut a circle out of the air and put a picture there. A picture of a gray desolate world. I shut my eyes, and stepped gingerly through.

Immediately I was struck by the smell. Like something was rotting, and had been for centuries. The ground was soft, sandy, there were a few loose stones lying around and the sky was the color of black puss. I shifted closer to my father as I looked around. Through the portal even the deep glow of the molten rock spiced with the scent of sulfur seemed better than this place. But as Neko passed through, the last of our small troop, the portal sealed up behind her.

Well, if there was any doubt, now we know.” Neko said before turning to look at the landscape.

I'll get a look around.” Zephos said, lifting gently into the air.

Right, everyone else be ready for anything.” Metudo said, clutching his staff tightly. I gripped my bag strings, being the only unarmed person here.

Minutes passed slowly, I had almost adapted to the smell by the time Zephos flew down.

There's a cave, about a mile that way.” He said. “There's only one guard.”

That's the trap then.” Neko said.

Or the front door.” Pah pointed out.

Well we might as well say hello to our new neighbors.” Metudo said, setting off.

As Zephos had said, there was a cave, it seemed to lurch slowly out of the ground, like a giant mouth. Standing in front of it was a rather bulky Solarus. It had crimson armor, painted in gold stripes; and a large blade strapped to its back.

Alright, there's several yards of open ground between us and him. Plans?” Metudo whispered, crouching behind a rock.

I think I can air drop someone.” Zephos said. “It doesn't seem to be paying too much attention.”

Right, well if we're going to do that, we'll drop one of our strongest. Odin.” He nodded, and the two took off, trying to avoid being seen. The rest of us slowly approached, trying to stay out of sight. To our surprise, Odin dropped down, and the guard simply stepped aside, leaving Odin stunned on the ground.

Warriors.” It spoke, the rest of us had started charging and froze in our tracks. It looked over us slowly. “I am a solider of Fate, I have no qualms with you. You may pass... except...” His glowing eyes lingered on my father. “Him. It is my fate to fight with the man wielding the God's Shield.”

Are you serious!” Metudo yelled.

We're not going to abandon him here...” Neko said rapidly, also approaching the guard. “We'll all fight you if we have to.” In a blink both Metudo and Neko were on the ground.

It would be unwise to face me. Now go, your fate lies ahead. The Shield's fate lies here.” We stood there, unwilling to leave when a force seemed to pull us into the gaping cave. Somehow I managed to resist where the others were pulled all the way into the darkness. I turned to see my dad already clashing blades with the guard.

I see how Fate will play today.” It spoke as it fought. “Master will know the prophecy is coming.” Dad swung as it seemed to lower its blade. But faster than I could see my father's sword, and his arm, came flying off towards me. He just looked shocked as the guard's blade sliced easily through his gut. I was running. I had his sword in my hand, as I ran towards my father's opponent. Red was already mixing with the gray sand, turning it black. I brought the sword down, and as I did the guard turned to me, and bowed its head.

I cut through easily, and it sat there, in two pieces; may father slowly bleeding to death next to it.

Two deaths before hell, and the end of days is approaching.” The metal husks last words sounded hollow as I pressed my hands against my father's wounds, trying to close them.

Syndil...” He whispered to me. “When did you get so strong?” I shook as his blood coated my hands. I couldn't stop it. “Syndil... I never told you this... But a long time ago... my father's father fought bravely... Protect them. For him. For me.” He fell still, as I collapsed on top of him.

Dimensional Warriors: Into the Maw Chapter 3

Neko
I saw Pah get up at a distance. I wanted to go check on her, unfortunately I had other things to deal with.

“Alright, there's farmland about thirty miles south. Tech says that he left several of the cows there.” I handed the small group a few provisions, tents, tools about the same I was handing out to everyone else. While we were deciding our next step, I was organizing the survivors, using the ATLAS to find places for them to settle; granted a few of them wanted to stay in the mountain base, in fact what little militia was left was determined to use the mountain as a forward base. Since it was close to the portal, and by everyone's guess if an attack happened it would come from there.

I shook off my exhaustion as the next group moved in. Only a little over a thousand survivors, almost not enough to retain a viable population. I wanted to stay and watch over them, make sure nothing happened; but I knew if we stayed here we'd only bring danger to them. We were lucky this time, next time our opponent won't underestimate us.

“Neko. We can take the barrier down.” Leukos stopped by, I nodded to him and asked one of the people staying behind to take over.

Sure enough all of us were gathered in the large tent.

“Okay, decision time.” Metudo started out, Tech hanging in the back as Metudo paced around the front of the uneven table. “We can get through the portal, there's no assurance we can come back, and no real idea what's on the other side. What do we do?”

“I say we stay here.” Jato said, standing up immediately. “The people here need protection, and we could be walking right into a trap.”

“I agree. This is a trap.” I said. “But we have to go. Tech, can you bring up the logs that you were talking about? The God named Avarus?” He nodded and punched a few buttons on his arm before reading.

“Avarus, God of Selfishness, to date only known God with the power to steal other God's powers. As far as we know he wants the other Gods; and has been warring with our ancestors for... a very long time. Recently he's been winning, and managed to scatter the Gods. Which is where we met them. It's likely the wall of light, the stitched together planet, the Solarus are all him searching for us.”

“And he knows we're here now.” Metudo pointed out.

“Yes. He most likely knows he has found at least a few of us. I would think he is currently rallying forces to come and capture us.”

“Or hoping we go through the portal into his home.” Jato said.

“That's why we have to go. His Solarus tore the population here apart. We can't face a larger more focused force.” I said.

“Should we just gift wrap ourselves while we're at it!?” Jato said.

“I'm going.” Pah said suddenly, standing up.

“Pah...”

“He's got a few billion heads to pay for. I intend to cash that in. I don't care what he has waiting.” I was a little relieved, I hadn't seen Pahhur so active since she was outed. But she seemed determined.

“Well I'm not going to let her go on her own.” Leukos said. “She'd just get caught in the first net she found.” Jato looked over the group and sighed.

“Alright. This is going to end in tears, but I'll go.” With that decided we prepared to move in the morning.

“Neko.” I was just unrolling my sleeping bag for the night when Raven came up behind me.

“Raven. I thought you had left.” He shook his head.

“No, I heard you guys were leaving.”

“Yeah, in the morning.” He knelt down in front of me.

“Take me with you.”

“Huh?”

“Please. You may need my blade.”

“N-No, Raven. You could die. You have a daughter.”

“Truth be told it was her choice. I'm afraid she'll slip after you regardless of anything I say.”

“Raven...”

“Neko, my ancestors served yours. This blade was forged by the Gods as a gift to my grandfather, so that it may be their shield. When he was separated, he kept searching for the lost Gods, and even on his death bed he passed their stories down to me. I didn't believe him at the time, but seeing your battle... It is my birthright to protect you.” I sighed.

“I assume its a similar story for you Vyrse?” I had smelled the gunman approach while Raven was talking.

“Nah, my guns were definitely forged by the old Gods, but whoever they were for is long gone. Still I'd rather not let Raven do this alone. Plus I want to help protect Syndil.”

“Alright, gather your things and be ready to head out in the morning.”

“Thank you.” Raven said, before leaving. I had a hard time getting to sleep that night.
